If you have a wired shutter release that can do longer, use that. After the photos are taken I do some light post processing of the raws in lightroom and then I've been exporting them and using starstax to stack the photos. I'm using ISO 1200 15 second exposures at F/2 and I took around 70 photos with 1 second in between. I've read that instead of using a super long exposure, you can take many photos and stack them (using StarStax).
